Reapplying exterior caulk
1. Use a painter’s tool, putty knife, or scraper
to remove exterior caulk.
2. Ensure the area to be caulked is clean and
dry. Caulk doesn’t bond properly to a dirty
or wet surface.
3. Apply caulk. Hold the caulk tube at a
45-degree angle to the surface. Push the
tube along the crack to fill it with caulk.
Pushing the tube, rather than pulling it,
fills the gap without trapping air bubbles.
4. Break the caulk bead by twisting the caulk
tube and pulling it back.
