6. Find the red reset button on the bottom of
the disposal and push it. If the button won’t
depress, wait several minutes and try again.
If the disposal still won’t start, check to see if
the circuit breaker that controls it is tripped.
HOME TIP: Some disposals aren’t directly
wired and instead must be plugged into an
outlet. If the disposal won’t turn on, make
sure it’s plugged into the correct outlet.
7. Turn on the cold water and run it into the
disposal. Turn on the disposal. It should
operate properly.
SERVICE TIP: Call a plumber if you’re
unable to clear a disposal jam.
