Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:  
The Permitting Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and gathering the documents required for building permits. The
Permitting Coordinator manages, tracks and reports on new permit requests, tract reports, and manages through various 
municipal building departments until issuance.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Request and review plans from architects, engineers, and various vendors to facilitate the permit application process
  • Submit permit revisions and manage building department comments as necessary to ensure permits are attained in a timely manner
  • Prepare and submit necessary applications with permit fees
  • Track and maintain a record of permit status
  • Obtain all required approvals for permits and act as liaison between the company and each municipality throughout the entire permit process
  • Communicate with Community Leaders and Director of Construction (“DOC”) on the status of permits and project schedule  
  • Review plans and supporting documents for accuracy and confirm that all start packages are complete
  • Prepare check requests, code invoices, and pay fees associated with permitting
  • Maintain complete and accurate internal files for each lot, as it relates to but not limited to: 
    o Site plan applications 
    o Product approvals 
    o License 
    o Permits 

 

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • No supervisory responsibilities are required for this position 

 

 REQUIRED JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Strong understanding of construction, subcontracting, and customer service
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Manage multiple priorities in a timely and professional manner with strong attention to detail with limited supervision
  • Ability to learn and use software including Builders CMS, Build Pro, NewStar, Track-it and any other company-based software as required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Effectively and professionally communicate (in oral and written form) with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate commitment to integrity, company values, customer-focus, and established policies and procedures
  • Display professional appearance and manner 

 

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Associate degree in a related field strongly preferred. One year of work experience may substitute for one 
    year of the required education up to a maximum of four years substitution. Where substitution is accepted, 
    applicant must demonstrate increased knowledgebase and progressively more challenging work assignments
  • Minimum of two to four years related experience in a similar position, preferably with a high volume builder.
